Professor UO Danuta Witkowska and Dr Agnieszka Rombel-Bryzek took part in an international 30th FAOBMB / 8th BMB conference in Bangkok (Thailand) from 22 to 25 November 2023. The theme of the conference was “In the New Normal Era”.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Krom Phra Srisavangavadhana. The conference included a plenary lecture entitled “Antibodies and antibody mimics as pharmaceutical drugs” by Sir Gregory Winter, winner of the 2018 Nobel Prize in Chemistry.
Professor D. Witkowska gave a lecture entitled “Chronological substitutions in the spike protein receptor binding motif (RBM) of SARS-Cov2 investigated by biophysical and computation”, in which she presented the results of research carried out as part of the NCN project UMO-2020/37/B/NZ6/01476.
Dr A. Rombel-Bryzek presented a poster entitled “The effects of mutations N501Y and E484K in the SARS-CoV-2 spike receptor binding motif on the binding affinity of RBM fragments for the ACE2 receptor”.
